I AM GRATEFUL...

For this amazing new place called the GOODWILL FITNESS CENTER of Orange County.
I have recently been taking my dad to a balance class on Fridays and I am amazed by how wonderful this place is!
They have accessible exercise machines, an internet lounge, and WONDERFUL staff!
It is the nicest gym I have ever been to and I am so grateful that my dad has a place to continue working out to improve his mobility.
It seems that this gym came at just the right time, they opened just as the insurance company began to deny physical therapy so we just replaced physical therapy with gym time=]

heres a little video about the gym:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT CANCER

Cancer Update from John Hopkins This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well.

No plastic containers in microwave.

No water bottles in freezer.

No plastic wrap in microwave.

A dioxin chemical causes cancer, especially breast cancer.

Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic
Bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.

Recently, Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital ,
Was on a TV program to explain this health hazard.
He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.

He said that we should not be heating our food in the
Microwave using plastic containers...

This especially applies to foods that contain fat.

He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin
Into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body...

Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic
Containers for heating food... You get the same results, only without the dioxin.

So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc.,
Should be removed from the container and heated in something else.

Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper.
It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc.He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away
From the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons...

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when
Placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high
Heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food.
Cover food with a paper towel instead.
This is an article that should be sentTo anyone important inYour life!

ALSO

Bottled water in your car
Very dangerous.

This is how Sheryl Crow got breast cancer. She was on the Ellen show and said this same exact thing. This has been identified as the most common cause of the high levels in breast cancer, especially in Australia .A friend whose mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and the Doctor told her: women should not drink bottled water that has been left in a car.The doctor said that the heat and the plastic of the bottle have certain chemicals that can lead to breast cancer. So please be careful and do not drink bottled water that has been left in a car, and, pass this on to all the women in your life. This information is the kind we need to know and be aware and just might save us! The heat causes toxins from the plastic to leak into the water and they have found these toxins in breast tissue. Use a stainless steel Canteen or a glass bottle when you can!LET EVERYONE WHO HAS A WIFE / GIRLFRIEND / DAUGHTER KNOW PLEASE.

Yes on Prop 8

Ok..
I know that the elections are over and that Prop 8 already passed; but apparently some people haven't realized that.

I understand the want to protest prop 8 and that people are upset that it passed.
but....
What do they expect?

The judge to overturn the law that the WHOLE state of CA voted on JUST because they aren't happy with it??

This is getting ridiculous and verrrry irritating...

everytime I hear anything about this on this news

I HAVE to turn the channel....its getting on my last nerve because this ALREADY happened ...its over and DONE...!

I also heard that they are now targeting the Mormon church and talking about boycotting Utah.
ummmm...ok
are there only Mormons in utah then? Hmmmm..I'm also pretty sure that there are plenty of non-mormons in Utah!
This makes me even more mad because they are generalizing Utah and all Mormons..
I'm sure there were plenty of LDS people who voted No on prop 8 just like Im sure that plenty of people who voted Yes on Prop 8 were NOT LDS..

don't even get me started on the fact that some are now calling themselves '2nd class citizens'....

ughhhh i cant wait for everyone to settle down and stop acting like drama queens/kings.
Its time to act like adults and accept what happened; what the majority of california voted for, that marriage is between a Man and Woman.

Hopefully, these protests will end soon!

Update on my Dad

So it has been almost 5 months since my dad had his stroke and I think he is making great progress! He is already walking with the help of a walker and compared to a few weeks ago, his balance getting a lot better! The only slow progress is in his hand movement; but i have heard that its normal to get the movement back in your legs faster than in your arm/hand. Everyday we have a caretaker who comes to stay with him from 8am -1pm. She is about my age and really nice and gets along really well with my dad. The time schedule for her has been perfect this summer, but we aren't sure what her schedule here will be once i start school. We still have to tackle that subject!! Plus, to make matters more stressfull, Jenny is going to San Diego for school [ we are taking her on friday =)] so that will be one less person who can stay with my dad. Who knows what will happen!
I hope that my dad has a full recovery, he deserves it so much. He is so patient with everybody when we should really be the ones being more patient with him. I am very thankful for the time that I have to spend with my dad, because we have a whole new relationship. It still scares me to think of what could have happened that night if my mom or I had not noticed something was wrong with him, but I thank God that he is alright and that he is still my loveable dad!<3

FREECYLCE

Hey everyone!
well i thought i would write a blog on this website because its ..welll.. AWESOME!=]
its a website where people 'recycle' the things that they do not need or want anymore [i.e. baby stroller, printer, mirrors, etc...] and the best part is everything is FREE! all you need to do is schedule a pick up time and its all yours!!
im going to give everyone the steps to sign up, because i think you will really like it when you do!

1. first go to freecycle.org
2. then look up your city and state
3. it will show you all the results it came up with and you click on the right one
4. once you click on the correct city and state it will show you the link for the local freecycle page.
*long beach,ca is a yahoo group
5. once you get there im not sure if its required to sign in with a yahoo id..but if it is..its really easy to open an account.
6. then you click on 'join group' and the group administrators will send you an email asking you a couple questions like your name and why you want to join the group!

its a great place to find nice things! the only hard part is replying to the offers before someone else does!!!

=D
